Suspension of Bagpat Municipal Chair Sparks Uproar as Lawyers and RLD Workers Demand High-Level Probe
A protest erupted in Uttar Pradesh’s Bagpat district after Municipal Council Chairperson Rajuddin Advocate was suspended. RLD workers and Bar Association lawyers demanded a high-level probe and submitted a memorandum to the DM for the President, calling for transparency and Rajuddin’s reinstatement if cleared.
Protesters insisted that the suspension was unjust and called for a high-level inquiry to determine the basis of the administrative move. They urged District Magistrate Asmita Lal to initiate a transparent investigation and asserted that Rajuddin should be reinstated if the findings clear him of wrongdoing. In a formal step, the demonstrators submitted a memorandum addressed to the President of India through the DM, pressing for intervention from higher authorities to ensure fairness in the process.
The incident has drawn attention to growing tensions between local authorities and civic representatives in the region. Supporters argue that due process must be upheld, while district officials have yet to publicly elaborate on the reasons behind the suspension. As calls for accountability increase, the case is likely to remain a focal point of political and legal debate in Bagpat.
